My son is getting ready to time travel. He will be traveling back in time. Right now it is Monday 4 pm for me, and right now it is Tuesday 7 am for him. He will board a plane in about 11 hours, at 6 pm in Taiwan, and 12 hours later he will be back at 4 pm Tuesday, only in Los Angeles.
Finally, he is coming home from his mission.
It feels like he has been in some kind of a time warp, because we have only talked a few minutes 4 times in 2 years. It seems so much longer than my other missionary son experience.
So much has happened–we have a new granddaughter, everyone in my family has moved–including our big move from 30 years in Irvine, grandpa died, two sons were married in the temple, one nephew left on a mission, another three returned, one of which got married, another nephew just married, we started a company, built it up, built a waste-to-energy system and site, had it all taken away from us by greedy partners, lost our source of income, got audited by the IRS, moved to a new city in northern California for that very work on the very day we lost that work, the two married sons and wives moved in with us in this new city with no work, my brother-in-law got called to be a mission pres, my other brother in law lost his business and maybe his house…well that is enough to make it seem like it’s been a long time.
But I am really excited for tomorrow. And I feel very blessed.
