I was thinking about the Lord’s sacrifice. I was thinking that the Lord must have felt relieved that he had completed his work.
The earth was created in six days or time periods. And on the seventh day, God rested from all his work.
Christ completed his work — his sacrifice– on the sixth day of the week. He died before sundown that Friday evening, and when the Sabbath began, at the setting of the sun, Christ’s mortal work was done. He said, “it is finished and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost.” He rested from his labors on the seventh day. It was finally a day of rest for the Lord.
I always look at the seven creative periods, the seven thousand years of the earths mortal life, and the seven days of the week as symbolic. The seventh day, is the day of rest, the seventh thousand years, is the millennium, a time of peace.
I was just thinking about that today. And kind of yearning for that peace — the one that lasts for a millenium, with no death. The bonds have been broken, for this I am grateful.
