Fear isn’t a good thing. Yet, when the sharks appear, it’s not easy to swim past them. Fear will definitely thwart your progress toward your goals. If it’s true that you attract what you emote or manifest, then it’s best to avoid those negative emotions. Lately, I have revisited the whole benefit of meditation. I’m afraid I have often felt like that comedian, J. B Smoove when he does that act about meditation. Yea I know he uses the “F” word more than a lot — it’s his trademark. But that word is becoming the new accepted swear word. (Another great book is Nine Nasty words English in the Gutter: Then, Now, and Forever.)
Or maybe it’s like Kevin Hart’s video on mediation — yea my mind wanders. I’ve definitely tried a lot of methods for meditation.
But recently I thought about my Lamaze training — that it worked when I was in labor and birthing my kids — with no pain meds. yep. It worked. That was like meditation. Right? I learned to take three deep cleansing breaths — in through my nose, out through my mouth. Then depending on the pain level for contractions, I would either breathe slowly, breathe in a pattern more quickly “he-he-he-he-he”, or quicker yet, more avoiding the pain of contractions — “he-blow-he-blow-he-blow” and ending with just blowing the candles out as my husband put up his fingers and I blew them out. Part of the Lamaze training was to focus on some spot in the room while breathing and use effleurage — a French term for making small circles with your fingers on any hand surface. That was being present without my mind wandering. And I could get past the pain.
So maybe I can meditate — not for a long time, but I think I’m getting it.
