I’m hoping to find some balance today — the Spring Equinox — March 20. Equal hours of daylight and nightlight must be symbolic of the moon and the sun embracing. I live in the northern hemisphere, so it’s the spring equinox for me. I have been feeling totally out of balance, so maybe this is the turning point. On the other hand, my life has been hanging in a balance, so maybe the longer days of sunlight are a good sign. Yea, I know, I’m grasping.
The sun will rise directly from the East on March 20. And then, approximately 12 hours later it will set in the exact West.
The word, “Equinox” is Latin, made up of the word “aequus” meaning “equal” and “nox”, meaning “night”. Those living closest to the equator will have the most equal amount of daylight and nightlight. The sun will be directly overhead at the earth’s equator and day and night will be approximately the same. It’s a time of balance.
