This is one of my sayings that explains one of my beliefs — “put in your adoption papers.”
I have friends that wanted to have kids but it just didn’t happen for them until they decided to put in their papers to begin the process of adopting a baby. As soon as they were willing to change their plans and adopt they became pregnant. In fact, I know some families that have one adopted child and then a whole bunch of their own biological kids. It seems to happen quite often.
But, life is more than this life and trials give us an opportunity to become stronger or weaker, to be willing or to be stubborn, to lean on the Lord and trust Him, or want it our way.
This theory is not just about having babies. It applies to many aspects of life. My husband’s business has been struggling for the last year and a half to get funded. We’ve been personally keeping it afloat with Amex and Visa. Last month he decided to “put in his adoption papers,” so-to-speak, and answer a job opportunity.
He interviewed and I was feeling quite optimistic. Although not his heart’s desire, he said, “I can do this job.” His resume supported their needs. I even let the possibility float — maybe our business in Mexico and gasification of garbage — though it is his life’s work — isn’t the best path for us.
He didn’t get the job, but he was willing to take it and drop his dream.
